Player Profiles: i would put in pictures, but it messes up my line spacing for some reason. Look for pictures on another post. You know what the players look like, right?
Terrence Jones:
Position: PF
Year: Sophomore
Height: 6-9
Weight: 252
Game: Jones is a lefty with a great vertical. He really transformed into a more mature player last year, starting out as a ball hog and turning into an excellent player who picked his shots and put in the work down low. THis is what I wrote about him in March: “TO the Man Who Received Bill Simmon’s ‘Book of Basketball’ for Christmas, and didn’t finish reading it until mid February (this is also called ‘The Longest Award Name Ever’): call it ‘The Secret,’ ‘The Choice,’ whatever, but Jones’ choice to do what is ‘best for the team’ has now made him one of the most underrated players in college basketball because of what he has given up. Early in the year he was taking all of Kentucky’s big shots because he was the one making them. He was our number 1 offensive choice, and I was fine with that. But today you rarely hear Jones’s name anymore, but I think it was his maturation which has really helped the team. Jones still has all of those offensive moves, and he is still rebounding the crap out of the ball. (He IS! While is playing with Jorts (8-10-8), he has rebounded at least 7 rebounds in our last 3 games. Against OSU he was competing for rebounds with Sullinger, and against UNC he was going against Henson and Zeller! And he still got 7!) But the difference is his passing ability. Early in the year against UNC he would get the ball in the lane, and instead of passing out of the post he would settle for a shot 5 feet away from the basket which would be blocked by Henson. Today, instead of going for those low percentage, highly contested prayers, he is throwing it out to Lamb or Knight who specialize in wearing 3 pt goggles. Jones, keep it up.” Jones is not going to be the most talented player, he may not even score the most points. But he is going to be the player to throw the team on his back and win a title.
Strength: Inside game
Weakness: 3 pt shooting. And he takes a lot of them ![]()

Darius Miller:
Position: SF
Year: Senior
Height: 6-8
Weight: 235
Game: Miller is an X-Factor. On any given night he can drop 20-25 without cause or reason. I stay awake at night wondering what snaps in this kid to make him go off. He also spent time at every position on the floor in the past two years. He is a decent defender who can match any player in the league with his athleticism; he just doesn’t use it often. He can hit outside, but rarely takes the shot. Although he is expected to be a leader this year, he will probably take a backseat to Sophomore Terrence Jones.
Strength: Experience, Versatility, 3 pt. shooting, Decision Making
Weakness: Miller is inconsistent and prefers to always step away from the lime light. He would much rather be a role player than an All-Star, even though he has the athleticism to jump out of the gym.
Fun Tidbit: When I met Darius Miller he was wearing a Dragon Ball Z button-up shirt.
Eloy Vargas:
Position: C/PF
Year: Senior
Height: 6-11
Weight: 244
Game: Last year I cussed every time Vargas took the floor because he could never catch the ball, whether it was a rebound or from a pass. He got a few rebounds towards the end of the year, but he never ‘pulled a Harrellson’ and actually matured. If he could be a legitimate fourth big man this year I’ll put 2K on Kentucky to win it all.
Strength: Height and weight.
Weakness: Offensive Skills are limited. So is his defense.
Fun Tidbit: Vargas tried out for his home country’s international team, the Dominican Republic, coached by Calipari, and didn’t make it. He did however play in the Kentucky Pro’s/DP game and scored as many points as Rondo.

I like that Darius Miller is a nerd.
